Japan Gallery is pleased to present the 12th collaborative exhibition by Oriental ・ Treasures ・ Box and Orientations ・ Gallery, "Meiji ・ Elegant Techniques in Japanese Art since the Taisho Period" at "New York ・ Asia ・ Week 2025". The Elegant Technique in Japanese Art since the Taisho Era" will be held.

This exhibition brings together a wide variety of crafts representative of Japanese art since the Meiji ・ Taisho period, including cloisonné, metalwork, ceramics, lacquer, painting, basketwork, sculpture, and textiles. These masterpieces, created by masters of exceptional craftsmanship such as Imperial Household Artists and Living National Treasures, are a true masterpiece of beauty and skill.

Shigebei Ando ( Cloisonne ), Kichihei Hirano ( Metalwork ), Yozaburo Honda ( Metalwork ), Chuzaburo Hattori ( Lacquer ), Nobuo Tsuda ( Metalwork ), Yuuzo Morimura metalwork ), Nishikoyama Sohei ( ceramics ), and other master craftsmen who led the Japanese craft world from the Meiji period to the early Showa period. With their advanced techniques and artistry, these craftsmen pushed traditional Japanese crafts to new heights, and their works are still highly regarded today both in Japan and abroad.

Last year, the "Meiji Modern" exhibition was held at the Asia ・ Society and three other museums in the U.S., attracting much attention. This exhibition will also feature a special display of works provided by both galleries for this exhibition. How did traditional Japanese crafts develop and how have they been handed down to the present day? By tracing its path, visitors will be able to experience the profound fascination of Japanese art.

Please enjoy the beauty of Japan that continues to shine through the ages.
