Short-term local elementary school and charter school transfers

I will be in Manhattan for a 3 month business trip starting in September （ I will be living in the Upper East Side ）
I have two children in early elementary school and I was thinking of sending them to an international school since we both work in NYC, but they were denied for a short term
I would like to know the following I would like to ask the following questions:
・ Is it possible to get them into a local school or a charter school for 3 months
・ If so, how long does it take to get there and how long does the application process take
・ If it is difficult, is there somewhere I can send them? If it is difficult, do you know of any private schools or international schools where I can leave my child in the early elementary grades?
