Autism spectrum disorder is one of the most common developmental disorders. While the diagnosis of severe autism spectrum disorder is often difficult and treatment is often started early, it is not well known how relatively mild autism manifests itself and how it affects people's lives. This webinar will focus on how relatively mild autism spectrum disorder manifests itself at school and at home, and how to respond to it ? using specific examples.

Born in Sapporo Medical University, Dr. Zucker trained in Japan for two years before coming to the United States. Completed one year of training in pediatrics, three years in psychiatry, and two years in child psychiatry in New York. After working in clinical research positions, he became Medical Director of the Adolescent Unit at Zucker Hillside Hospital, and since 2020 has been responsible for 226 beds in 10 wards at Zucker Hillside Hospital, involved in inpatient and staff management, clinical research, and resident and medical student education. Donald & Barbara Zucker Haustra / Professor of Psychiatry at Northwell Medical School, where he has published numerous articles and research papers in the US and abroad. Currently, he is a consultant psychiatrist at the Consulate General of Japan in New York.

Born in Kamakura, Japan, Dr. Kano came to the US with his parents at age 3, Raised in Scarsdale and Chappaqua, NY. Graduated from Cornell University. Graduated from Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. He has been actively involved in volunteer medical support activities in the Japanese American community. He has served the Japanese Medical Society of America ( JMSA ) as president and chairperson of Community Affairs and has been active in various community philanthropic activities. Since 2000, she has been a board-certified physician in both internal medicine and pediatrics at Mount Sinai Tokio Marine Memorial Clinic ・ Japanese Medical Practice in Hartsdale, providing "compassionate medical care" in Japanese where the whole family always feels comfortable and consulted. A mother of two, after giving birth to her first child in 2003, she realized the stress of childbirth and childcare in a different culture and strongly felt the need for networking and childcare support for Japanese pregnant women and mothers living abroad, and founded the non-profit childcare support group "New York Sukusukukukai" in September of the same year. Since then, the group has held seminars and workshops for pregnant ・ mothers on topics related to childbirth and child-rearing, such as medical care, breastfeeding, and discipline, mainly at the spring and fall "Health ・ Fairs" held every year at the NY Nikkei Association.
Since 2013, she has also served as the School Doctor ( and School Physician ) at Keio Academy of New York ( High School ) since 2013.
