making friends

I am a Manhattan resident, currently an expat, soon to be unemployed Alaska. I have been here as an expatriate for 3 years, but for various reasons I will be out of work next month. I have been so busy with work when I was an expatriate that I have not had a chance to meet Japanese people in NYC, so I would like to take advantage of the grace period I have left and talk with many people. I am looking forward to meeting with a few of you and having a casual conversation.
Since it is possible to continue working here, I am also looking for people who would like to discuss with me whether I should return to Japan or switch to a permanent residence.
If you already have a group of Japanese expatriates or Alaska residents, I would love to meet them.
