The Japan Gallery on the 7th floor of The Nippon Club will present the second impersonal exhibition after the reopening ・. The second impersonal exhibition after the reopening will feature stone sculptures by Hiroyuki Asano, a sculptor and professor of the Faculty of Education at Tokyo Gakugei University.

After graduating from college, Asano traveled thousands of miles to Italy to study at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara, Italy, while working in a local stone carving factory to hone his skills. Asano's series of sculptures of the female body were completed in Carrara. The style of his work is semi-abstract marble sculptures of the female body from 1986 to 1993, and abstract granite sculptures from 1993 to the present, with the main theme of circular voids "circular openings". The former is soft and romantic, the latter rational and geometric.

Mr. Asano says, "Stone is a product of a far-off epoch of time that we cannot even imagine, and some objects contain fossils of living things. I would like to express in my works the feeling that the heartbeat of life from such ancient times is echoing in the space of the present day, transcending an incredibly long time.
