人形は子どものおもちゃであると同時に、民族や風俗、歴史を伝える役目も果たします。人形は時代とともに変遷してきました。宗教的儀式や祭礼などに用いられていた人形が、次第に遊び道具となって子供に与えられるようになりました。子供にとって人形遊びは情緒性や想像性を育み、心身のすこやかな成長を育むと言われています。
本展では、昭和から平成そして令和まで、子どもたちを中心に人気のあった人形を時代ごとに展示し、その時代背景と共にご覧頂きます。また1927年にアメリカ合衆国から日本へ贈られた「青い目の人形」(Friendship Dolls：友情人形)と日本から贈られた答礼人形の親善人形もご紹介致します。
会期中、WEBギャラリーにて、正解された方の中から、抽選で5名様にリカちゃん人形が当たるクイズを掲載予定です。お楽しみに！
