英語がついてけません・・

15日前にNYに来ました。1年の予定です。早くも英語の壁にやられてます。学校のクラスも皆より分かってないし、日本人もいないので悲しいです。毎日一生懸命勉強してます。続ければ本当に会話が出来る様になるのでしょうか?今の自分のレベルでそんな見通しは全くなく、途方に暮れてます。。。

まだアメリカに来て一ヶ月経っていないんですよね。ならば何も焦る事はありません。今は授業は10%理解できればOKです。
周りと比べてはいけません。「周りと比べて劣っている」と思うから焦るんです。最終的に一年後、テレビドラマが字幕ナシで観れれば充分なのです。競争ではありません。語学学校で主席卒業しても肩書きになりません。ただし、やる気があればの話しですが。
今はまだ周りの事をよく知らないのなら、それを活かしましょう。わからないことは周りのアメリカ人に聞きましょう。間違ってもいいから、間違ったら言い直し、それでも通じなかったら身振り手振りで説明して聞いてみてください。たぶん「ああ、○×の事だね」と返ってきます。これでひとつ答えが出ました。
例えば韓国レストランなどで「私は日本から来たばかりで、この料理の食べ方を知りません。教えてくれますか?」と聞いてみてください。
「知らない」のだから、「聞く」「尋ねる」事が出来ます。ここで英語を使う機会が出来ます。僕などは知っていてさえ「ケチャップはどこですか?」と聞いてました。

そうなんです。パンチョさんの言う通り、本当はあなたは英語が話せるんですね。私も同意です。同じ意味の事でも、言い方は何通りかあります。その何通りかの中から適切な言い方、あるいは今の自分の語学力で言える言い方を瞬時に判断する、これは訓練によって出来る様になります。たとえば朝のNHK連続テレビ小説を字幕つきで見てください。難しい単語は殆ど使っていない事に気付くと思います。
「間違ってもいいから、間違ったら言い直し、それでも通じなかったら身振り手振りで説明して聞いてみてください」そうですね。通じなかったら言い方を何回でも換え、手足のゼスチャーも加えてもOK。呆れられても諦めちゃダメです。通じた時には最高の気分ですよ。間違う事を恐れるのは、英語で仕事をするようになってからで充分です。
あと、クラスの、日本人以外のクラスメートと話す事も大事です。日本人がいないなら、様々な国の人達とお友達になるいい機会です。最初は通じなくても、サクシマさんが頑張れば、みんなはわかってくれますよ。頑張って下さいね。

ぱんちょさんとdollyさんに質問です。#2に「訓練」と書いてありましたが、何かおすすめの訓練法ってありますか?
