I learned from reading on the internet that many people had the same experience.
When I went back to my hometown, I was instructed by JAL to purchase a ticket with Hanako YamadaSmith as my name on the ticket and passport. I have read that it is now possible to put a space between "Yamada" and "Smith". However, when returning to the U.S., the name on my green card, Hanako Smith, is different from my name on my green card, so I get an X at the immigration kiosk, which is a hassle. I was even sent to another room. It is not that I cannot enter the country, but it is depressing every time. I would like to know about the experiences of green card holders who have recently returned to their home countries. Is the situation still the same?
