どこに住んでます？？

私はFall04からＢＭＣＣに入学予定なにですが、やっぱり１番の問題はアパート・・・。もちろん学校に近いところ(Manhattan内)に住みたいのですが、BrooklynやQueensにもたくさん学生さんが住んでいると聞きました。
ただ、Manhattan＝家賃高い、Brooklyn/Queens=遠い、のような問題もかなり耳にしています。
月＄１０００までが私の限界なので、やはり１人で住むとしたらQueensなどの方がいいのでしょうか？（Studioでも1bedでもＯＫ)
すべて希望通りの部屋を探すのはただのわがまま＋不可能は承知ですが、少しでも条件のイイ部屋に住みたいので、現地のみなさん！みなさんの生活体験談教えていただけないでしょうか？よろしくお願いします。
