pen friend について

この夏ＮＹに語学留学するつもりですが、英語の勉強もかねてとおもい、penfriend のサイトから、あるネイティブアメリカンの女の子にメールを出しました。わかりやすいようにと自分の仕事とかを書いたら、「いつくるのか?」「あなたの仕事に興味がある」、「ＮＹにきたら案内する」極め付けが「あなたは空から降りてきた私のエンジェルのようだ」とありました。いきなりこうも親しげにこられたので、かなり不安になりました。
さらにメールの末尾に、Caution:Pliase be careful about possible abuse when using Japan penfriend.という注意書きまで送られてきました。こういうサイトでやりとりとかした人います?一体どこまで気をつければいいのか・・・最初から疑ってかかるのもどうかとも思うし。何か情報をお持ちの方、教えてください。
